The Junkkari HJ550 is an entirely new, high-performance tractor-driven towed disc chipper. Developed with decades of experience and extensive customer feedback to meet the needs of contractors. This truck-mounted chipper is capable of chipping material up to a maximum diameter of 50 cm.

Designed to be reliable and user-friendly

The chipper is built on a robust 2-beam frame with brakes and a spring-tensioned bogie. This makes it highly off-road capable and allows access to difficult areas where, for example, car chippers cannot reach. The frame comes standard with support legs and a sturdy attachment flange for the crane. Visibility to the feed table is excellent.

The chipper is operated by the Wizard C+ controller, familiar from other crane feed models. The design of the chipper is very straightforward and maintenance costs are low. The structure allows easy access to the necessary maintenance points. Under the large and hinged rear fenders, both the hydraulics and the V-belts are well protected.

Super competitive high performance chipper

The HJ550 chipper takes disc chippers to a whole new level and to a new performance class. The well-known excellent chipping quality, low power requirements and low maintenance costs combined with new features make this new HJ550 model a very competitive alternative, even for larger drum chippers.

Infeed equipment

Optimal infeed chute for crane loader and conveyor mat

The chipper is fed by a 57.5 cm wide and 150 cm long mat conveyor with a large 48 cm diameter feed roller above it. The feed power is ensured by hydraulic motors with planetary gearboxes. The feed angle is 60 degrees.

Blade disc

Robust blade disc for high quality chipping

The wood is chopped by a 4-bladed blade that weighs almost 1000 kg. The adjustment of the blade setting is stepless, as on other Junkkari models. Power from the tractor to the blade is transmitted via the internal drive shaft and V-belts, which softens the load on the tractor during operation and starting.

Control unit

Control unit

Chipper functions are controlled by the Wizard C+ controller and the included foot pedals. The controller’s display shows, among other things, the rotation speed of the disc and functions such as the horn and feed are controlled by switches. If the operator’s hands are on the loader controls, the chipper feed and top roller can be controlled by foot pedals.

No-Stress rotation guard

The No-Stress rotation guard improves the comfort and safety of your work. It automatically stops feeding if tractor RPMs fall below a pre-set limit and automatically resumes feeding when RPMs return to working levels. The No-Stress feature protects the tractor engine and reduces fuel consumption.

Accessories

Adjustability with blade options

The HJ550 chipper is available with an optional brushwood blade set for blade for the disc and for chamber, ensuring high quality chips from all types of wood material.

With a 15m extension cable, the chipper control can be moved to the cabin of another machine if the chipper is not fed by the tractor connected to the chipper.
