In May 2025, agricultural history was made in a field in Kauhava, Finland. An AgXeed autonomous robot tractor and Junkkari’s electric-drive T300C ELITE combi seed drill completed a fully autonomous seeding operation. This marked the first time an AgXeed robot tractor operated with a trailed implement in real-life field conditions in Finland.
Autonomous seeding without a driver
The AgXeed–Junkkari combination sowed rapeseed on the Peltoluhta farm. Before starting, a field map and driving plan were uploaded to the robot tractor. After that, the machine carried out the task completely on its own.
The AgXeed tractor can also be controlled manually via a remote unit, but this is only needed during transport, loading, or unloading. The actual seeding task was performed entirely autonomously.
Junkkari ELITE combi seed drill worked seamlessly with ISOBUS connectivity
The Junkkari T300C ELITE combi seed drill used in the test features electric metering and full ISOBUS compatibility. The trailed seed drill was connected to the AgXeed’s ISOBUS system, enabling smooth and precise integration with the autonomous control.
Although the test used the ELITE version, the same type of seeding could also have been carried out with any Junkkari seed drill featuring mechanical metering.
A step toward the future of farming
The test was a great success, and the combination completed the seeding operation with precision. Based on this trial, AgXeed can continue refining autonomous tractor use with trailed implements. At the same time, Junkkari’s machine proved its capability to support a new era of autonomous farming.
