Junkkari HJ172 is a versatile and powerful disc chipper designed for both small-scale forestry and energy wood production. This tractor-powered chipper is an excellent choice for chipping wood up to 17 cm diameter.

Junkkari’s HJ172 is an angle-feed model, meaning that the feed angle to the disc is 45 degrees. As a result, the power requirement of the chipper is low for its size class. The HJ172 model is equipped with two horizontally positioned feed rollers.

Hand feed chipper

In G model, rollers are powered by tractor hydraulics, and their rotation speed can be adjusted steplessly with a valve on the chipper. The advantage of having two feed rollers is particularly important when processing light brushwood, which can be fed efficiently towards the disc.

G and GT models are both tractor-powered chippers. The difference between them is that the G model requires one hydraulic block pair from the tractor in addition to the PTO drive shaft and electric socket for the feeder. The GT model is equipped with its own hydraulics, so it does not require oil from the tractor. This is a good option when the chipper is used with multiple tractors, and oil mixing is to be avoided.

Infeed chute

Easy and safe to use

The manual feed chute is spacious and easy to use. The front part is fixed, while the rear part folds up easily for transport. Infeed is easily controlled by electric buttons on both sides of the chute.

The no-stress RPM monitor ensures smooth operation. It is a standard in all models. If the tractor’s RPM drops, the infeed stops, the rollers reverse the wood away from the blades, and automatically resume feeding when the RPM returns to working level. A safety bar surrounding the chute ensures user safety by cutting off the feed if necessary.

Blade disc

Chop sharp

The chipper’s disc is equipped with four steplessly adjustable blades, allowing you to precisely determine the size of the chips. From the blades, the chips are transferred to the peripheral blower blades of the disc, where they are crushed, and the blades blow the chips through the chute to the desired location. Optional brush blades are available for the disc. Additionally, the chipper can be converted to a two-blade setup with optional cover plates.

No-Stress

Smooth operation and safety

In the HJ172 model, wood is always fed with the assistance of hydraulic feed rollers. This ensures that wood is transported efficiently and evenly into the chipper.

The No-Stress RPM rotation guard improves smooth operation and safety. It automatically stops the feed if the tractor’s RPM drops below a set limit and resumes feeding automatically when the RPM returns to working level. The No-Stress feature saves the tractor’s engine and reduces fuel consumption.

Accessories

Blade options

A brush blade set is available as an accessory for the HJ172 chipper. It ensures high-quality chip production even from smaller wood material.

With optional cover plates, the disc can be converted to a two-blade model, which is ideal when using a lower-powered tractor.

The chipper chute can be made tiltable with an optional tilting hinge.
